Introduction
One of the most common roadblocks keeping many organizations from a CMMS that works as intended is the daunting task of data entry. There are many approaches that organizations take. One end of the spectrum advocates getting the software installed and start printing Work Orders immediately by creating Equipment, Inventory or Employee records "on the fly" as they are involved in work. The other end of the spectrum says to completely enter all of the data, and only then begin printing and scheduling Work Orders and Tasks. Both ends of the spectrum make false assumptions about the reality of implementing a CMMS. There are pros and cons to each approach, and in this blog series I will discuss some of the more common approaches and what makes them work or not work. The series will run in the following order:
-
Part II: The No-Time-For-Data-Entry-We-Want-Work-Orders-Now Approach
-
Part III: The First-Things-First Approach
-
Part IV: Avoiding the Pitfalls
Stay tuned for updates to the series.
